Kona
(website)
Kona
is a one of the original BC bikes. While their headquaters are
in Ferndale, Washington, their design and testing mainly happen
in BC. Kona builds tough, great handling bikes at a great price.
That is why we wanted them in our shop. They offer what people
are looking for in a montain bike today; durability, quality,
and value.
BACK COUNTRY
The name doesn’t really suggest it, but Kona Back Country
bikes are designed to actually bring you back home (as well as
shove you way the hell out there). We worked with riders who wanted
a strong and stable frame that is willing and able to handle all
day pedaling. Did we mention how much fun you’ll have on
these 4-inch rear travel bikes? That must be why they’re
our best selling bikes year after year. From the converted cross
country rider looking for more suspension and a laid back design,
to the freeriders looking to go for an all day stomp, these bikes
have received many riders’ attention.
OB
DUAL SUSPENSION
The Stinky series has been a focus for Kona since 1998. Long before
the Red Bull, and some time before global eyeballs were peering
into our North Shore backyard, Stinkys have been quietly raising
the bar on freeriding all over the world. Running 6-7 inches of
rear wheel travel, the Out of Bounds series embodies what Kona
is all about; design a specific bike for a specific need, and
allow the best riders in the sport to contribute. New this year
are the Coiler and Coiler Dee-Lux, where we’ve taken our
proven Stinky design and created a combination of freeride strength
and pedaling ability.
DIRT
JUMP
Mountain biking and dirt jumping have cross-pollinated over the
years which has resulted in some really fun riding. This year,
Kona OB Hardtails have taken a turn towards pure jump designs,
which includes changes in frame geometry, dimensions, and details.
These bikes are designed to be put in the air, and to stay there
for as long as your huevos can stand it. From dirt jump parks
to launching down trails, these bikes are built with maneuverability
and durability leading all else.

MTB
XC DUAL SUSPENSION
Kona has been deeply involved in cross-country mountain bike racing
since we started 15 years ago. Our racing roots began with the
NORBA series and entered the World Cup when it was formed. The
Kona dual suspension design is a byproduct of our longstanding
involvement in racing. Our 3.5-inch rear wheel travel cross-country
bikes use our proven four bar rear design that we know works,
at a reliable weight. No, it’s not ultra light and disposable,
nor is it the design flavor of the month (also disposable), but
a time proven bike design. This philosophy is just the way we
design and race, and that seems to work for us as much as it does
for our World Cup and
NORBA sponsored team riders.
